Context
Ferry riders have no consumer-grade way to answer a simple question: is my sailing running, and how late is it? Operator alerts are vague, and people end up cross-referencing professional AIS tools like MarineTraffic just to see whether the boat is moving. FerryFetch is the layer that turns that raw vessel data into a plain answer, starting with British Columbia.
What I built
A real-time ferry intelligence product on public AIS data: an ingestion pipeline that streams live vessel positions, a six-state sailing state machine (boarding, underway, delayed, cancelled, upcoming, empty) derived from position, speed, and schedule delta, schedule integration, reliability scoring per route, and a passenger-facing status page. Built with Next.js, tRPC, Postgres, Redis, and SSE for live updates, owning both the product and the infrastructure.
Role
Founder and sole engineer across product, frontend, data pipeline, and infrastructure. Building it with AI coding agents as the primary engineering workflow.
