I spoke at a Frontenders Verona (FEVR) meetup in September 2018, delivering a talk titled "Tour Inside GraphQL." I took the audience through GraphQL's core mechanics, how schemas define your data structure, queries fetch exactly what you need, and resolvers handle the backend logic, all from a frontend developer's viewpoint.
Why GraphQL Shines
Unlike REST, where you often deal with fixed endpoints and over-fetching, GraphQL lets you request precise fields in one go, cutting extra API calls and bandwidth waste. That makes building efficient UIs faster and more intuitive, especially in React apps.
Talk Highlights
Hosted by the Verona frontend community on September 27, 2018, and co-presented with Matteo Guidotto, the session compared GraphQL head-to-head with REST with real-world examples of schema design and frontend integration.
