blockParty: ETH San Francisco 2022 Hackathon Awards

Background

As a community, we have a responsibility to use web3 applications when possible. When we dogfood the experience, we learn and iterate, slowly improving the process.

blockParty is a creation and discovery tool for web3 event organizers and attendees. It enables organizers to create events with tickets (free or paid) as NFTs, letting them move beyond third-party platforms (Eventbrite, Meetup, Partiful) and their centralized databases and payment processors, to a decentralized solution they own and control.

How it's built

  • Unlock Protocol for contract creation and token distribution, making event creation through a contract efficient.
  • Lens Protocol for SSO, removing the need to fill out a form to sign up.
  • Optimism for free-event ticketing (low gas), ApeCoin on Mainnet for paid events.

Stitching these pieces together produced an MVP used for events at Empire DAO in NYC through November 2022.

Team

Built at ETHSanFrancisco 2022 with Patrick Workman (Product Manager) and Chiali Tsai (Product Designer). I was the frontend engineer.
